CALABASH AWARDED GRAND PRIZE WINNER IN DISTRICT CAMPUS BEAUTIFICATION CONTEST

For the second consecutive year, Calabash has been recognized for our beautiful campus by the District's Campus Beautification Award Program.  Judges came to Calabash and saw our new Succulent Garden, Literacy Garden, new greenhouse, 50 tulips in honor of our 50th anniversary, new ginko tree, plans for new garden and stage, and overall campus cleanliness. 

Mrs. Melanie Ladish, Mason's mom, accepted the award on behalf of Calabash at a special ceremony on June 10th.  Mrs. Ladish played a key role in helping to beautify our campus.  Her generous donations have made Calabash a true gem! 

Thanks to all of our students, staff, and parents who help keep our school clean and beautiful and worthy of the title of Grand Prize Winner! 

WALK-A-THON RAISES $7000 for CALABASH!

The 7th annual Walk-a-thon was a huge success with pledges amounting to $7000!  Thanks to our generous sponsors, Steven and Jacquee Newman (Nathan and Max's parents), for organizing and supporting this great event each year! 

Special thanks to all the families who pledged their support.  A special pizza with the principal was organized by Mrs. Jacquee Newman for students who pledged over $79 and over.  The Calabash community loves the Walk-a-thon and we truly appreciate everyone's participation.

Calabash Students Win First and Third Place Awards at Ballroom Dancing Festival

Calabash 5th grade students took home a first place trophy during the second annual Best Foot Forward Dance Festival on Saturday, June 5th at El Camino High School. Our 4th grade students did an awesome job by taking home a third place trophy.

Nine schools competed in the festival and Calabash was the only school to take home trophies for both grades. The ballroom dancing program started with an idea that Larry and Gloria Weinstein, our generous benefactors, had after seeing a documentary called, "Mad Hot Ballroom."

The goal of the ballroom dance program is to teach students how to dance while cultivating their character. Our students made us proud not only through their fancy footwork but how they displayed sportsmanship and encouraged each other to do their best. Thanks to our teachers, parents, and families for supporting our students. This is an invaluable program and we look forward to continuing this with our partnership with Best Foot Forward.
