2009-10 Artopia Artopia is a PTA funded Art Program. The students at Calabash get 2 Art lessons per month that are taught by the Artopia parent volunteers. The lessons are age appropriate and they are geared to bring the imaginative thinker alive . The projects a have been carefully designed for the age appropriateness. The projects planned this year are mosaic art, collages, water color etc. using a wide range of mediums used from pencils to clay. How the Program Works: Parent volunteers attend a 2 hour workshop. The volunteers practice the Art lesson to be taught to the kids. Later, in the month with 1 or more other parent volunteers the Art lesson is taught in your child's room. The Art lesson is taught in 2 sessions to the kids. There are 7 Art workshops to attend in the year. The Art workshops are held once a month on Thursdays at 8:15 a.m. in the Auditorium. Art in The Classroom The Art lesson can be taught on any day any time convenient for your classroom teacher. This is a great way to be a part of your child learning in their classroom. Kids love having their parents in the classrooms.
