Class Descriptions Fall 2010

Drama

Through DRAMA we take pride in offering a place for children to be creative and explore the

world of theatre. In a safe and supportive environment, the kids will learn self-discipline,

responsibility, value of teamwork, concentrations skills, to focus on goals, and to

make choices. Students will develop skills in improvisation, pantomime,

vocal development and physical movement. Its hard work, but its fun and the rewards are immediate and long lasting. Max 6/15

Wacky Science

Come join us for some fun with Weird and Wacky Science! New, cool, and hands-on

experiments each week! This class is filled with fun science activities and your kids

will have a blast. Experience the Scientific Method as never before!

Lego Mindstorm

This is an advanced Lego Robotics Program where you build and program your own robot

and possibly compete with it. It takes a lot of skill to get a robot to do what you want it to

and the process is not easy. But it is the "real thing" robotics; computer programmable

NXT's and Mindstorms--for competition!! You up for it?

Farsi

This class is taught by a Calabash parent Mrs. Yas Adeli. Learn Farsi Phrases, colloquial words, Vocabulary, Pronunciation, Numbers Sound(s) of each letter, phonetic symbol(s) of each letter, and Songs. Min/Max Students 8/15

Ceramics

Students discover the magical qualities of clay while hand building 2 whimsical sculptures. They will be making 2 Craft projects and working on 2 Art Projects. Students have fun with weekly projects where they use their imagination and learn technical skills. Min/Max Students 8/15

The Digital Art and Photography

Class will be creating Art projects using mainly 3 Art Programs. The kids will learn sophisticated techniques and tricks to draw objects, scenery and touch up photos. We will be using cameras in class (provided) and learn photo techniques. 1-5 Grade students .Min/Max Students 8/15.

Sky High Dance

is devoted to motivating and inspiring children to live richer and fuller lives through dance. We use captivating stories, special dance games and positive music to cultivate every child's confidence Class is open to all levels both boys and girls and after 8 weeks, parents, teachers and friends are invited to watch our Sky High Dance Showcase (12/10). Students will perform what they've learned while wearing a Sky High Dance costume and will also take part in an awarding ceremony to reward them for their hard-work and dedication. Min-8/No Max.
